New World Interactive, the award-winning developer of the Insurgency video game franchise, is thrilled to celebrate its tenth anniversary today with announcements about the future of the company and a promotion on the entire catalog, including the top-selling title Insurgency: Sandstorm which just received a major update, Operation: Cold Blood.
New World Interactive was established in 2010, by members of the Insurgency and Red Orchestra mod teams. The studio achieved commercial success in the FPS market with titles Insurgency (2014), Day of Infamy (2016), and Insurgency: Sandstorm (2018). From these humble beginnings, New World Interactive’s titles have now exceeded 10 million Steam users collectively, and in September 2020 the studio was acquired by the Embracer Group.
The recent acquisition by Embracer Group will provide the company with greater resources to build upon its foundation as a critically acclaimed FPS developer, guaranteeing a bright future. “We are thrilled to be part of the Embracer Group and are working tirelessly to develop our next title, which will continue our trend of creating gritty, hardcore, high-lethality, close-quarters combat first-person shooters. We will also be providing ongoing support for Insurgency: Sandstorm as we bring the franchise to new platforms in the near future,” said CEO Keith Warner.
When asked about the future of the company, Warner stated that he has “bold ambitions for growth in Canada and with our game development plans.” These plans include the launch of New World East, their newest studio location in Montreal, Quebec.
The company is looking to build upon the success of Insurgency: Sandstorm by expanding its audience, working in partnership with Saber Interactive to bring the title to both PlayStation and Xbox platforms in the first half of 2021. With the addition of new and talented developers, a new title in production, and its new studio location, the company anticipates another bright decade ahead, as they are focused on growing into a preeminent AAA developer.
